SouthSouthNorth (SSN) came into being in 1999 when Hélène Connor (HELIO International), Emilio La Rovere, (COPPE Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Steve Thorne, and Stefan Raubenheimer met up during the inter-sessional Subsidiary Body meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany, in late 1999. Steve and Emilio had been commissioned by Helio International to propose a set of criteria and indicators to appraise sustainable development attributes of Clean Development Mechanism projects and present them at a side event at the Climate Change event.
SSN seeks to appoint a Junior Operations Officer to be based in South African.
The purpose of Operations Officer will support the technical and strategic implementation of SSN’s operations and organisational workflow. The role also includes operationalising workflow systems, and the last-mile implementation and subsequent maintenance of the organisation’s financial architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Operations:
Budget design, construction and implementation oversight
Bid submission management
Project resourcing
Programme-level financial management
Reporting on financial and operational deliverables
Organisational, Operations and Workflow Management: The design, building, maintenance and analysis of systems and processes that collate and track project and organisational information with the goal of creating efficiencies and improving decision-making within every level at SSN.
