PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To assist in improving the efficiencies of the mining operations by providing detailed plans on how to safely and productively deliver on the mines objectives.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• 5 Years’ practical experience in the mining environment, (preferably in open pit or open cast mining environment)
• B Eng Mining Engineering or equivalent
• Code B driver’s license
• SAIMM or ECSA membership will be added advantages
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand and reconcile fluctuations between mining, survey and plant
• Identify shortcomings and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems and procedures
• Adhere to and support all Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) programmes, policies and procedures
• Ensure that plans are executed according to budget targets and within the medium to long term plans
• Report daily, weekly and monthly production achievements with deviations where there are such
• Monitor and evaluate equipment performance
• Liaise with and advise management and technical staff (geologists, mine planners etc)
• Use and understand specialised computer applications such as (Fleet Management Systems, Data Mine etc) to maximise planning and production
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Proficiency in: Datamine, Geovia or the ability to learn the software
• Ability to understand complex descriptions of problems and equal ability to apply scientific and mathematical principles to solve problems.
• Advanced software skills in Microsoft Office Suite and exposure to databases
• Skilled in complex problem solving
• Budgeting, cost control and basic financial management skills
• Project management and report writing skills
