Overview:

Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Position

Junior Maintenance Officer (2)

Based at Mokhotlong and Leribe Satellite Center of Excellence (SCOEs)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the SCOE.
  • Perform a wide range of repair tasks around SCOE premises, inspect buildings and maintain inventory.
  • Carry out preventive, planned maintenance program and undertake routine inspections of the building, fixtures, fitting and grounds to assess for minor works or repairs required. 
  • Monitors expiry dates for the Fire extinguisher and sends them to Maseru for a refill when they expire.
  • Upkeep of SCOE landscape, planting, cultivating, watering and caring for the grass.
  • Inspect sidewalks to ensure no trip hazards are present.
  • Clear any objects that clutter the SCOE.
  • Prepare any necessary list of materials to be ordered to ensure maintenance work is done properly.
  • Inspection and advise to Facilities Manager on some areas of the building that needs repair.
  • Performance any other manual jobs needed for SCOE
  • Work with the guards on the security measures if necessary

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Minimum qualification in COSC
  • Certificate in electrical, hydraulic, and other systems, as well as plumbing and carpentry, will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Maintenance Technician in a similar environment
  • Preference will be given to Mokhotlong and Leribe Residents
