The Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha, Cape Town is looking for a Junior Fundraising and Communications Officer as a part time contractor (max 24 hours per week). The NPO animal clinic and shelter has been an essential service to the community for 25 years and is growing at a fast pace.

Dynamic NPO animal clinic and shelter in Khayelitsha, is looking for a part time contractor to support our Fundraising and Communications department.

The position requires an enthusiastic, self-driven, passionate person with a heart for animals and the community of Khayelitsha. The position reports to the Fundraising and Communications Manager and the General Manager and is also an assistance role to such managers. This is a remote working position but the candidate must be able to travel to the Mdzananda Animal Clinic at least twice a month, ideally once a week or every two weeks.

Fundraising

Raise a minimum of R100 000 every 6 months through self-initiated efforts
Maintain donor database
Assist in organizing fundraising events
Must be available to attend fundraising, pr and adoptions events
Issue tax certificates

Communications

Answer all organisation’s emails and execute any actions needed in response
Manage social media (Facebook and Instagram)
Promotion of pets for adoption on social media channels
Maintain professional relationships with donors and supporters via email and social media

Skills required:

Good photography skills (professional photography is not required)
Ability to physically handle animals with ease
Eloquent and creative copy writing
Polite and eloquent in writing and speaking skills
Good people skills
Effective communication skills
Great attention to detail
Ability to juggle many different tasks at any one time
Task orientated

No prejudice towards specific racial or wealth groups
Passionate about animals

Ability to take initiative and does not require constant supervision and guidance

Proven experience required

Proven experience with animals
Proven social media experience
Proven fundraising experience

Must have:

Own computer
Camera or good quality phone camera
Stable internet connection
Access to reliable transport

This position is part time (max 24h per week) with payment in line with market standards for the amount of hours.
