JOB SUMMARY
The Junior Systems Specialist provides technical support for application-related incidents and assists with the day-to-day operations of business systems. This includes analysing system needs, developing solutions, supporting system upgrades, performing routine maintenance, ensuring data integrity and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES
MAIN TASKS
- Perform routine system checks, assist with data validation and monitor system performance.
- Conduct routine system performance monitoring, troubleshoot system issues, and apply timely fixes or escalations.
- Maintain and support business-critical systems (e.g. Student Information System, HR and Finance applications).
- Log and track incidents and changes using service management tools, ensuring accurate records.
- Act as second-line technical support for applications, resolving incidents and service requests within SLA targets.
- Support end users with application navigation, reporting issues, or usage training as needed.
- Maintain system user access records and perform access reviews.
- Ensure application security standards and user access controls are implemented in alignment with ICT policies.
- Assist in documenting processes and standard technical documentation in alignment with ICT policies.
- Support business units in analysing user requirements and developing functional specifications.
- Develop system enhancements, configure application components, and contribute to change and release management activities.
- Participate in system upgrade planning and testing to ensure smooth implementation with minimal disruption.
- Collaborate with team, end users, and third-party vendors to ensure reliable and optimised application performance.
- Keep abreast with emerging technologies and provide input to innovation and service improvement initiatives.
NB: Because of the changing nature of the Polytechnic’s business, the job description will inevitably change. The candidate will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within his/her capabilities as directed by management.

JOB SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems Engineering or related field.
- 2-3 years’ experience in enterprise systems support and application lifecycle management
- Knowledge of systems integration and scripting tools.
- Familiarity with structured change and incident management frameworks
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and documentation practices.
- Relevant Professional Certification or Training
