Applications are now open for the 2024 Jeanie Borlaug Laube Women in Triticum (WIT) Early Career Award.
Named after Jeanie Borlaug Laube, an influential advocate for women in agriculture and daughter of Nobel laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug, this award stands as a beacon for exceptional achievements in the world of wheat research. The WIT Award not only acknowledges outstanding accomplishments but also serves as a platform to amplify the voices of those advancing wheat science. Through this award, we spotlight dedication, innovation, and resilience in breaking barriers within the agricultural landscape. The 2024 WIT Awards are supported by the BGRI and the Accelerating Genetic Gains in Maize and Wheat (AGG) project led by CIMMYT.
Eligibility Requirements
The award is intended for early-career scientists ranging from advanced undergraduates to recent PhD graduates and post-doctoral fellows. Priority is given to applicants at the pre-professoriate level. Self-nominations are accepted.
Nominees will be judged on:
- Strength of scientific abstract
- Commitment to and passion for agricultural development
- Leadership potential
- Quality of written statement of intent
