JOB TITLE: IT Systems Engineer
DEPARTMENT: IT Infrastructure Projects and Services
REPORTS TO: IT INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGER
PURPOSE OF THE ROLES
- Implementation of commercial IT Infrastructure Projects and Support
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To manage and deliver commercial projects that satisfy customer needs
To install and configure LAN and WAN services.
To plan and implement diverse networks and computer systems.
To provide strategic inputs into the success and development of the CBS infrastructure Business Unit.
DUTIES:
- Prepare technical project documents and reports.
- Organize technical training programs for customers and develop related resources.
- Follow and develop guidelines to reduce negative customer IT incidents.
- Carry out essential systems analysis responsibilities.
- Provide prompt and efficient IT support to customers.
- Document troubleshooting and problem resolution steps.
- Prioritize workload to maximize productivity and minimize customer downtime.
- Gather data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate
system and network requirements - Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation in order to enhance customer
IT operations. - Work with clients to influence new business, follow-up on sales, and close deals;
- Act as technical Project lead during project implementation
- Assist in quality assurance of infrastructure projects or services
- Provide technical assistance to other junior colleagues.
CORE COMPETENCIES / SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Good strategic thinking and analytical ability
Knowledge of latest Windows AD Domain
Knowledge of Linux operating system (added advantage)
Experience in Virtualization
Good planning and time management
Work both independently and in a team with minimal supervision
Self-motivated, continuous learning orientation
A strong grasp of computer security when dealing with internet
Ability to configure switches, firewalls and routers
Strong business development acumen with good presentation skills;
Excellent technical writing skills;
Ability to handle multiple activities and function well under pressure.
Knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP and other networking concepts
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Related Field
- CCNA, MCSE or VMware certification will be an added advantage
- Must have at least two (2) years of experience in a similar role
Or - Diploma in Information technology or related field
- Must have CCNP and MCSE
- Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a similar role
