Overview:
Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.
BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the positions of I.T. Officer on a full time, fixed term contract basis under COE.

Duties and Responsibilities
IT Governance
- Monitor and support adherence to IT policies and procedures; report any deviations to the Senior Information Systems Manager.
- Assist in performing risk assessments and internal audits to identify vulnerabilities and compliance issues.
- Support the enforcement of IT controls and protocols to mitigate risks in line with regulatory and organizational requirements.
- Maintain and update the IT risk register; track potential risks and mitigation actions in coordination with the Senior Information Systems Manager.
- Conduct self-audits covering key areas such as network security, inventory accuracy, access controls, system updates, backups, and disaster recovery preparedness.
- Support the secure disposal of outdated IT equipment in accordance with the Foundation’s Disposal Policy.
- Enforce policies on Wi-Fi usage and access management to ensure secure and efficient use of network
Infrastructure and Security
- Execute a scheduled maintenance plan for servers, workstations, network components (switches, routers, Wi-Fi infrastructure), UPS systems, and other IT equipment to ensure high availability and performance.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly system checks as per the defined maintenance calendar.
- Utilize the IT Helpdesk platform to manage incidents; ensure that issues are logged, categorized, and resolved within agreed service level timelines.
- Analyze trends in incidents; contribute insights for recurring issues and recommend potential training or process improvements.
Technical Operations and Support
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and applications based on user needs and organizational standards.
- Monitor systems and networks to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues using appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Escalate complex, unresolved, or recurring issues to the Senior Information Systems Manager for further analysis and intervention.
- Document procedures for system setup, troubleshooting, and common issues; ensure accessibility and accuracy of technical documentation.
- Support the rollout of new applications and IT systems; assist with onboarding, access setup, and change management communications.
IT Asset and Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all IT assets using the SnipeIT system, including details on ownership, location, status, and movement.
- Log all issuance and returns of IT assets using standardized forms and procedures.
- Ensure assets are tagged, securely stored, and organized according to the Foundation’s asset management guidelines.
- Support periodic audits and reconciliation of asset records as directed by the Senior Information Systems Manager.
User Support and Training
- Provide end-user support and guidance to promote effective use of IT systems and tools.
- Deliver hands-on training sessions aligned with the IT Systems Training & Development Plan.
- Capture recurring user challenges and contribute feedback to improve training content and support materials.
- Assist in developing user-focused tips, guides, and awareness content to promote best practices in IT usage and data security.
Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies
Skills
- Understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and best practices to support and manage organizational technology effectively.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience with installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Understanding of IP addresss, DNS, and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with tools and systems for managing IT assets and incidents.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication, with the ability to actively listen and convey technical information clearly.
- Capable of working autonomously as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and cooperation.
- Strong skills in building relationships, working with others, and fostering a positive team environment.
- Ability to handle a large and variable workload, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of work.
- Well-organized, self-guided, and motivated to deliver high-quality work consistently.
- Demonstrates integrity, objectivity, and the ability to earn the trust and respect of colleagues.
- Fluency in English and at least one local language to effectively communicate within a diverse environment.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field
- Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA A+/Network+, Cisco CCNA,etc) are an added advantage
- ITIL Foundation V4 Certification is an added advantage
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or a related role
- Experience with Windows and Linux servers, network administration, and IT security is preferred.
