IT Officer and Teacher (1)
St. Elizabeth Training Institute invites applications from suitably qualified local candidates for the position of IT Officer and Teacher. Reporting to the School Principal, the incumbent shall be appointed on a permanent basis.
The proprietor of the school is the Roman Catholic Church in Lesotho, and it is a registered high Institution operating within the mandate of the Ministry of Education and Training. It was established in 1968. At present the Institution is offering certificate in Consumer Science, Business Management and Business administration, it also offers Diploma in Consumer Science, in Business Management and Business Administration. It is a boarding institution that accommodates 104 students.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The ICT Teacher and Technician plays a critical role in fostering a technologically advanced learning environment. This position is responsible for delivering exceptional instruction in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to students across various grade levels while simultaneously providing technical support to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of the school’s ICT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Instructional Delivery:
o Develop and implement engaging and comprehensive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.
o Utilize innovative teaching methods and technology to enhance student understanding of ICT concepts.
o Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to foster academic growth.
2. Technical Support:
o Maintain and troubleshoot the school’s ICT equipment and software, ensuring optimal performance.
o Provide technical assistance to staff and students, aiding them in effectively utilizing ICT resources.
o Collaborate with IT personnel to implement upgrades and improvements to the school’s ICT systems.
3. Curriculum Development:
o Stay updated with the latest trends in ICT education and integrate relevant topics into the curriculum.
o Design projects and activities that promote digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
4. Training and Workshops:
o Organize and conduct training sessions for staff on the use of ICT tools and resources.
o Facilitate workshops for students to enhance their computer skills and internet safety awareness.
5. Community Engagement:
o Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students’ progress in ICT.
o Encourage a positive attitude towards technology within the school community.
6. Infrastructure Management:
o Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of school ICT resources, ensuring they are well-cared for and functioning efficiently.
o Conduct regular audits of ICT equipment to assess condition and performance, initiating repairs or replacements as needed.
o Collaborate with school administration to develop strategic plans for future ICT improvements, including budgeting and resource allocation.
o Promote responsible usage of ICT resources among students and staff to extend the lifespan and utility of the school’s technology assets.
o Stay informed about new technologies and recommend upgrades that align with educational goals to enhance the overall learning experience.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for teaching and technology, with excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a collaborative learning environment. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the ICT field is essential, along with a background in education or a related discipline, to excel in this multifaceted role.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Education: A degree in ICT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years working experience.
• Experience: Experience in teaching ICT at school, as well as experience in technical support and network administration will be an added advantage.
• Technical Knowledge:
o Proficiency in computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
o Strong knowledge of networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity.
o Familiarity with educational software and e-learning platforms.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
• Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially in technical issues.
• Organisational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, including classroom responsibilities, technical support, and administrative duties.
