POSITION : IT Network Engineer
DEPARTMENT : Technical
REPORTING TO : ISP and Corporate Network Supervisor
PURPOSE:
To monitor, configure, maintain and provide support on IP network in line with agreed SLAs.
Main Duties / Key Responsibilities
• Provide 2nd level support for IT Helpdesk, NOC & Commercial Technical Support by resolving escalated faults according to SLAs
• Participates in user acceptance tests in conjunction with business units
• configures product upgrades and/or downgrades by implementing work orders or change requests
• Carries out, provides and maintains accurate updates to the topology and configuration databases
• Performs design tests, network provision, and final network implementations and submits the report to the ISP and Corporate Network Supervisor
• Conducts the IP network health checks, assessments and submits the report to the ISP and Corporate Network Supervisor
• Prepares weekly network performance reports and submits to the ISP and Corporate Network Supervisor
• Monitors the IP network performance, availability and quality and reports to the supervisor for any unresolved glitches
• Carries out software rollout support (upgrade, patches), hardware and software consistency checks and network quality
• Creates and updates knowledgebase of known and recurrent network faults
• Provisions and maintains the Corporate WAN network and services (third party VPN and corporate VPN).
Qualifications:
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Certification in CCNA or equivalent
Experience:
• IP Networks
• Information Technology
• Customer Support
Special Skills / Personality:
· Communication and ability to prepare reports
· Ability to analyse and solve work related problems to achieve the correct outcomes
