The Institute of Development Management (IDM) is a public institution of higher learning accredited by the Ministry of Education and Training and regulated by the Council on Higher Education (CHE). IDM delivers management development services through Education, Training, Research and Consultancy (ETRC) in the fields of Business Information and Resource Management, Human Resource Management & Organizational Development, and Public Health Management.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE POSITION OF IT CONSULTANT

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for dissemination of technical knowledge and expertise, especially in the management field by means of training (both scheduled and client-specific), conducting consultancy interventions and applied research; undertaking marketing and administrative work in support of these three primary objectives.


KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Strong technical expertise in IT systems, networks, and academic technologies.
  • Knowledge of e-learning platforms and digital learning environments.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple ICT priorities.
  • Good communication skills and user support orientation.
  • Experience in multimedia tools and applications (added advantage).

EDUCATION


Teaching and Learning

A Lecturer should be:

  • Responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
  • Designs, prepares, and delivers lectures, tutorials, remedial lessons, workshops, and seminars.
  • Prepares teaching materials for lectures on scheduled IDM courses for own and other departments.
  • Teaches undergraduate modules.
  • Develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect developments in teaching and learning.
  • Collaborate with other academics to improve teaching methods and expand the knowledge base.
  • Provide support to students and other colleagues.
  • Participate in the development and review of academic processes.
  • Undertake any other teaching & learning related tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Supervision

  • Facilitate learners’ readiness to undertake projects and/or practicums.
  • Supervise students’ research projects and/or practicums.
  • Participate in the development of projects and/or practicums guidance and assessment tools.
  • Undertake any other academic supervision related tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Curriculum Development & Review

  • Participate in the development and review of the curriculum and learning programmes.
  • Participate in the programme accreditation processes.
  • Undertake any other duties related to curriculum development and review as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Assessment

  • Prepare and administer both formative and summative assessment as per set standards.
  • Set, mark and moderate examinations and assessments.
  • Invigilate during examinations.
  • Maintain an accurate record of students’ academic performance using the system that has been adopted by the Institution.
  • Participate in the review of assessment standards and processes.

Academic Leadership

  • Display high level of professionalism and leadership in lecture rooms and academic activities.

TRAINING

Design and Development
  • Participate in the design and development of credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing courses within the area of speciality.
Delivery
  • Prepare training materials.
  • Deliver credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing courses within their area of speciality in line with expected outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain new innovative methods for effective delivery of all credit and non-credit-bearing courses.
  • Maintain accurate class attendance to facilitate issuance of certificates for attendance.
Evaluation
  • Undertake evaluation of the training exercise.
  • Analyse feedback provided by course participants.
Review
  • Participate in the review of short-term credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing courses.
  • Undertake any other tasks related to these courses as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Marketing and Promotion

  • Participate in the review of the Marketing Department findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in the promotion of credit-bearing and non-credit-bearing courses.

RESEARCH

Research and Publications
  • Undertake individual and collaborative research projects.
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present conference papers.
Academic Leadership
  • Participate in the preparation of research proposals and grant applications.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives.

CONSULTANCY

Preparation & Delivery
  • Participate in the identification of consultancy projects.
  • Undertake management consultancies including needs analysis, on-site investigations, etc.
  • Participate in the preparation of bidding documents.
  • Participate in the execution of the consultancy process as per client requirements.
  • Undertake any other duties related to the consultancy exercise as may be directed by the Head of Department.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Engineering.
  • At least three (3) years working experience in a related field preferably in an academic setting.
  • Post Graduate Diploma or Honours in Information Technology and profound experience in consultancy, education/teaching and multimedia shall be an added advantage.
