Letšeng seeks to engage a qualified professional with appropriate skills and aptitude to fill the position of IT Applications Support Technician (Paterson Band CL).

PURPOSE: To manage and administer the Letšeng Diamonds Helpdesk System to ensure Incident, Change and Problem Management is managed in alignment with the Business Service Level Agreement (SLA). The administration of the Application Register, IT Assets and assisting with ad hoc tasks and activities as required within IT to allow the achievement of Company business needs and objectives. Provide monthly statistics on the performance of Letšeng IT against SLA.

MAIN OUTPUTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide guidance and support for application users to ensure that the business application systems are maintained to the highest possible standard with maximum levels of attainable productivity and efficiency

• Undertake application problem analysis and resolution for application problems in conjunction with the users and application suppliers

• Examine application functionality and performance and provide information about how it can be improved

• Prepare maintenance plans and upgrading schedules for the organisation’s systems Uptime of applications and maintains and updates technical documents and procedures

• Analyse data from systems and produce technical and business reports for consumption by departmental managers

• Manage and maintain interfaces, exports and imports, and ensure their smooth running where required

• Write, run reports, interface and routines to support day-to-day business operations

• Manage ticketed query system and ensure a comprehensive database of queries and resolutions is kept up to date

• Troubleshoot and escalate alerts that cannot be resolved to the appropriate section

• Prioritize and handle service requests and incidents

• Maintain IT inventory and issue reports periodically and records on all software and their current configurations

• Make recommendations on the purchasing of IT resources whilst maintaining a log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance Identifies and prepares hardware for disposal when appropriate

• Complete daily checks on hotspots, servers, mobile networks, internet, e-mails, faxes, telephones, printers, radio antennae and communication switches and hubs

• Monitor security of IT systems and support backbone network Links to Surveillance Networks

• Connect computers to UPS for preventative maintenance and support backbone and in-house connection of television to residences and configures and install all equipment to ensure that required channels are always up and running

• Communicate and report network connection and system failures with appropriate service providers

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• CCNA; MCSE; Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering Degree or Diploma

• ITIL/CoBIT certification and certification in the use of Helpdesk Systems, with experience in Cherwell will be an added advantage

• 3 years’ experience in the use and administration of IT Helpdesk Systems and application support; 2 years’ experience in CoBIT and ITIL, and the implementation and continued improvement thereof

• Light Motor Vehicle Driver’s Licence

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Sound working knowledge in the use of the full Microsoft Product Suite

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Candidates will be required to undergo a medical examination of fitness as per requirements
