The Sustainability Institute seeks to appoint  IT and Admin assistant to be based in Stellenbosch,Western Cape.

This individual will be responsible for first tier IT support and also provide administrative support to the Office Manager. The IT & Admin assistant oversees a crucial prtfolio of work for the entire organisation that needs to be functioning effectively and efficiently, and as such requires a detail-oriented, problem solving and proactive personality.

The IT & Admin Assistant, accountable to the Managing Director: Institute Programmes, will be responsible for first tier IT support and providing administrative support to the Office Manager where necessary. The IT & Admin Assistant oversees a crucial portfolio of work for the entire organization that needs to be functioning effectively and efficiently, and as such requires a detail-oriented, problem-solving and proactive personality. This position will multitask a variety of responsibilities that include 1st tier IT support and front office, clerical activities.

The objective of the role is to ensure that staff can operate smoothly through efficient IT support and that the organisation is able to deliver a professional service to all its partners as an educational facility.

The IT & Admin Assistant is responsible to diagnose, repair and maintain hardware and software components to ensure the smooth running of computer systems. Responsibilities include installing and configuring computer hardware and being the primary point of contact for IT support within the organisation.

Salary: R10 000 – R12 000

Responsibilities:
1st tier IT support
Network troubleshooting
Clerical and general technical support to the organisation
Administrative assistance to the office manager and managing director
Since the IT & Admin Assistant will be based on the SI premises certain non-core responsibilities are expected of him/her. Non-core areas of responsibility include:
Keep SI surroundings free of litter
Attend Monday morning staff meetings
Attend the morning gatherings with students (when there are modules taking place)
Participate in community work (ilima)
Driving in case of emergency
Requirements:
A post-grade 12 qualification, ideally in Computer Science or related field
2 years of experience in computer network
Proficient in database programming and software installation
Proven IT knowledge and experience
Proficient in database programming and software installation
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Familiarity with the computer languages and advanced operating systems
Competent in using antivirus technologies and spyware technologies
Experience in an administrative role is advantageous
Valid Driver’s license is advantageous
Experience in managing a budget is advantageous
