Project Overview
The Market Driven Irrigated Horticulture Project (MDIH) aims to establish a sustainable and inclusive model of irrigation, water resources, and land management in Lesotho.
About the Role:
The Irrigation Engineer shall be a registered professional with experience in the design of pressurized irrigation systems.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Irrigation, Hydraulic, or Agricultural Engineering.
- Fluent in the English language (B2 level or higher of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR, Table 1).
General Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in design and construction management/supervision of pressurized irrigation and related water supply, water storage, and water conveyance infrastructure
- Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa would be an added advantage.
Specific Professional Experience:
- Design experience of at least five pressurized irrigation projects of not less than 500 ha each with two of them in the last three years, specifically in Drip and/or Sprinkler and /or micro-sprinkler systems,
- Experience in at least two projects of at least 100 ha each in Sub-Saharan Africa will be an advantage.
- Experience with Monitoring and control systems.
- Significant experience in supporting water user groups will be an advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively as a member of multi-disciplinary teams in a rural development context with a focus on the modernization of water management and irrigated agriculture systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
