Irene Homes is a nonprofit organisation working with mentally challenged women within a residential facility.Irene Homes seeks to appoint a Senior Nursing Professional to be based in Pretoria.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for the functioning of the Health Care Department, including the delegation of care needs to Nursing Staff and Care workers
- Record keeping and keeping of statistics as required
- Compile health and other reports as and when required
- Ensure that the daily Health Clinic and doctors’ clinics are organised and functioning smoothly
- Ensure that policies and procedures for the ordering, storage, handling and administration of medication are followed
- Ensure that the residents’ diets are healthy and nutritional needs are attended to.
- Ensure that safety precautions are adhered to
- Do regular health inspections of residential houses and the work centres
- Liaise closely and communicate with other departments, writing of letters, reports and motivations as requested
- Ensure that health and hygiene policies and procedures are adhered to
- Be an advocate for our intellectually disabled beneficiaries, ensuring that their rights are observed
- Attend meetings as required
- Prepare for and do in-service training and health care education
- Do health assessment of new applications for residential care. Follow up reports
- Compile annual budget and management of the department’s expenditure
- Do stock control and stock taking as indicated
- Do counselling were indicated with beneficiaries and/or families
- Keep up to date with health information and information specifically relating to the care of a person with intellectual disabilities
- Deal with emergencies and ensure that emergency measures are in place and being adhered to
- Do standby duties as required
Requirements:
- Registered with the SANC
- Have a valid code 08 driver’s licence
- Good Health
- Knowledge of packing/dispensing of medication
- In a position and willing to be on standby/on call
- Computer literate – Proficient in Microsoft Office Package
