1. Project Background:
The Kingdom of Lesotho has received financing from the African Development Fund (ADF) toward the cost of the Lowlands Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contracts for:
- Lot 1: Ha Matlere and Ha Nthafa Water Supply Systems
- Lot 2: Ha Lekete and Foto Water Supply Systems
- Lot 3: Ha Lebakae Water Supply System
Scope of Works:
Lot 1 – Ha Matlere and Ha Nthafa Water Supply Systems
- Construction of stonemasonry tanks (sizes: 2m³ to 10m³)
- 9 concrete standpipes
- 5 spring catchments
- Source pipeline (Dia. 40mm G.I.) – 105m
- Main pipeline (Dia. 40mm HDPE) – 510m
- Distribution pipelines (HDPE Dia. 25mm and 32mm) – 4120m
- Pumping:
- SQF 2.5-2 (3 units)
- Solar panels
- 3-core armoured cable (Dia. 10mm²) – 430m

Payments will be processed using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines.
2. Bid Invitation:
The Ministry of Natural Resources (Commission of Water) invites sealed bids from eligible bidders (Category A and B registered with DRWS/Ministry of Works (BDS)) for the construction of water supply systems in Berea and Maseru districts.
3. Bidding Details:
- Bidders may bid for one or all three lots
- Discounts for multiple awards are allowed if included in the Letter of Bid
- Bidding will follow Open Competitive Bidding (National) procedures per the Bank’s Procurement Framework (November 2018)
- Open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Framework
