Key responsibilities:
- Assist the team with developing synthetic biology technologies for industrial partnership;
- Perform insilico computational biology skills and in-vitro molecular biology technology for establishing CSIR Synthetic Biology platform;
- Adhere to best practice and compliance with agreed quality and safety standards such as Good Laboratory Practice, and execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
- Assist in collaborative research projects as necessary with team members within the Next Generation Health Cluster involved in development of Synthetic Biology technologies;
- Assist with laboratory management, certification and maintenance (inventory and equipment maintenance);
- Keep up-to-date on new technologies and techniques in the field of molecular diagnostics;
- Present scientific findings, developed technologies in meetings, and contribute towards publishing relevant articles in scientific journals.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- A Master’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, virology, microbiology or biotechnology;
- A good background in molecular biology such as CRISPR-Cas9 technology, restriction digestion, cloning, DNA ligation and bacterial transformation, bacterial and plant DNA and RNA extraction, PCR and reverse transcriptase-PCR, agarose electrophoresis;
- Excellent communications skills (verbal and written);
- Proficiency with MS Office suite and relevant scientific software is required.
