Purpose of the position
To support the team leader in Lesotho during the 6-8 month base period of a digital health project in Lesotho. The purpose of this role is to strengthen the migration of information and services to the cloud within a public health setting
Key Accountabilities
- Analyzing the project need to select appropriate cloud technology and configuration
- Analyzing weaknesses and recommending system improvements
- Identifying opportunities to deploy, optimize and protect critical applications and data storage
- Manage project data security across multi-cloud environments
- Building best practices around procurement and integration
- Performing cloud technology patching when appropriate
- Managing IT infrastructure for the base period of the project
- To effectively weigh the potential risks of IT solutions against the project’s IT needs
- To put in place mitigating factors to ensure confidentiality, accessibility and integrity at all times.
- Involvement in user acceptance testing (UAT) to assist with systems improvements or upgrades
Qualifications
Essential qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics Data Science or related field.
Desirable qualifications
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Data Science or working towards a post graduate degree.
- Technical qualifications in Cloud Operations would be advantageous
Experience & Skills
- 7 – 8 years of experience in IT field Infrastructure/Applications/Databases/Security and Networking
- Exposure to the data science life cycle.
- Prior experience in a donor funded (ideally USG) project advantageous
- Prior experience working on health related systems such as DHIS2 and eRegister
- Proven proficient in one or more of the following programming environments: SQL, Python, Java, Go or C/C++.
- Operations management and infrastructure design
- Professional proficiency in written and oral communication skills in English.
- Expert skills with MSOffice.
- Internet technologies including HTTP, SMTP, DNS, TCP/IP, TLS/SSL, DHCP, SSH, etc.
- Command-line experience with UNIX/Linux OS
