We have an outstanding opportunity for an Interim Head of Media Relations in our Communications Division.
The successful candidate will lead the Media team and ensure that they are effective in raising the profile of the Commonwealth and its programmes in mainstream media and in the international community.
Other responsibilities entailed in this role include (but are not limited to):
- Developing and implementing a media strategy and workplan – with appropriate indicators of success – as an integral part of the broader divisional communications strategy, in order to help deliver the Commonwealth Secretariat’s Strategic Plan;
- Supervising the Media team so that they engage in proactive communications with the media at all levels – in the UK, in Commonwealth member countries, and in the international media generally;
- Working across the Commonwealth Secretariat to ensure that all public messages and activity generated are fully consistent with media messages and strategies, and are integrated, planned and executed appropriately;
- Supporting the Communications Division’s planning and delivery relating to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2021.
To be considered you must have a degree or an equivalent qualification in communications, journalism, media studies, international affairs or a related area, as well as a minimum of ten years’ experience gained in communications/media roles, seven years of which should be at a senior level.
