About the Position
Lesotho Electricity Company (Pty) Ltd invites applications from suitably qualified Lesotho nationals for the position of Inspections Manager in the Customer Experience Division, under the Metering Department.
The successful candidate will oversee revenue protection, customer pre-installation testing, statistical metering, and the registration and monitoring of approved electrical contractors to support compliance with LEC standards and protect electricity revenue.
Qualifications, Experience and Other Requirements
Qualifications
- BSc in Electrical Engineering or BEng in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Additional Requirements
- Specialised training in Energy Management, Utility Management, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
- An Advanced Diploma or Certificate in Metering Systems and Revenue Protection will be an added advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal and people-management skills.
- Computer literacy and report-writing skills.
- A valid driver’s licence.
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in utility metering, distribution, operations, energy accounting, or revenue management.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role.
Key Performance Areas
1. Revenue Protection
- Develop and implement revenue protection strategies.
- Conduct and oversee forensic meter investigations.
- Identify advanced meter-tampering schemes.
- Monitor and analyse consumption patterns.
- Manage revenue recovery initiatives.
2. Customer Pre-Installation Testing
- Develop and review testing procedures.
- Review and update installation wiring guidelines.
- Analyse installation test results.
- Conduct regular audits of metering installations and consumption patterns.
3. Statistical Metering
- Develop commissioning and inspection procedures for statistical meters.
- Identify suitable locations for the installation of statistical meters.
4. Registered Electrical Contractors
- Prepare, administer, and review contractors’ wiring licence tests.
- Issue contractors’ registration certificates.
- Register, monitor, and maintain a database of approved contractors authorised to undertake electrical installations.
- Assess and verify contractors’ compliance with LEC standards and other regulatory requirements.
