Recruiting: Innovation Directors at DGMT

DGMT is a node of public innovation for South Africa driving towards a flourishing South African people, economy and society. Our approach focusses on identifying key opportunities to shift the trajectory of human development; and to tackle the underlying social and structural dynamics that shape the outcomes of our programmes.

We operate by supporting and drawing on the grounded innovations of civil society; identifying and incubating breakthrough strategies; engaging in policy processes; and developing strategic coalitions and public advocacy.

Our current team of Innovation Directors are moving into new opportunities within DGMT, and our associated organisations, and so we are looking for two new Innovation Directors to direct our work towards our goals of: 1. Nurturing an Innovative and Inclusive Society and 2. Keeping All Children on Track by Grade 4.

Each Director will:
Shape and direct DGMT’s proactive strategy towards each goal;
Build and sustain alliances with other funders, government, civil society organisations and the corporate sector;
Lead your team’s work to select and shape, support and manage, projects.
Inspire change through great communication;
Work with the rest of the DGMT innovation team (staff and Trustees) to identify new opportunities and different ways of working for greater impact.
To be a good fit for these roles you probably have:
A post-graduate degree, preferably in a development-related field;
A minimum of 5 years work experience;
The ability to seize opportunities and operate in a field of uncertainty;
An interest in working across a range of topics and issues;
Very strong communications abilities; and
An excellent ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders (from community-based organisations, to government officials, to partner funders).
It is important to us that our team reflect a diversity of opinions, perspectives, and identities.

If you are interested, please apply by submitting a 1-page cover letter, and a CV (please include 3 references), to [email protected] by 30 April 2021. Please identify which of the two strategy areas you are interested in in the subject line of the email (e.g. “Innovation Director – All Children on Track”). Please do not send any other documentation.
