Position Overview
Crabtree Lesotho (Pty) Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified candidate to fill the role of Industrial Engineer.
The purpose of this role is to provide advanced industrial engineering support, with a focus on improving production efficiency, quality, process control, and operational performance. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S implementation, production performance monitoring, bottleneck management, flow development, training, and new project support, while strengthening quality systems through risk assessment, non‑conformance control, poka‑yoke implementation, and problem solving.
This position will report to the Industrial Manager, dotted‑line reporting to the Site Manager.
Key Responsibilities
The incumbent’s responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
- 5S implementation, auditing, and sustainment
- Production performance monitoring, reporting, and improvement action analysis
- Quality performance analysis
- Implementation and monitoring of hourly production counters
- Daily 10‑minute review meetings with support functions
- Weekly performance review meetings
- Support for new project launches and process industrialisation
- Training and coaching of production teams on industrial engineering standards
- Development and optimisation of production processes and flows
- Bottleneck identification and management
- Changeover monitoring and reduction initiatives
- Risk assessments and start‑up sheet implementation
- Development and maintenance of quality escalation plans
- Coordination of non‑conformance containment and corrective actions
- Implementation of poka‑yoke (error‑proofing) systems
- Management of identified non‑conforming areas through workstation zoning
- Verification and control of quarantine stores and quarantine areas
- Problem solving using 8D methodology for customer complaints and internal quality issues
- Standard Work instruction creation, assessment, and compliance verification
- Training matrix development and maintenance
- Line balancing and manpower optimisation
- Cycle studies and productivity improvement
- Continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives
- KPI dashboard development and reporting
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Degree: B.Eng / B.Tech in Industrial Engineering
- Lean Six Sigma certification (advantageous)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including:
- Macros
- VBA Automation
- Pivot Tables
- Advanced Charts and Dashboards
- VLOOKUP
- Strong analytical abilities
