About the unit:
The CSIR ICC is one of the leading convention centres in Africa. It is a 4-star establishment that hosts about 80 000 delegates annually from various leisure events to business meetings.
Key responsibilities:
Under supervision, the Trainee will assist with following:
To assist Reception with the following:
- Answer the switchboard
- Signage
- Man the Reception desk of the ICC
- Reservations office with filing and other administrative duties
- All clients and delegates at the centre
To assist the Customer Relations and Quality Manager with the following:
- Data capturing of all delegate feedback forms and client evaluation forms
- Annual quality management reviews
- Check on clients during the day with the Customer Relations and Quality Manager
To assist the Reservations Office with the following:
- General assistance with events
- Event Coordinators with general duties
- Reservation Office Manager to update the booking system
To assist the Sales Manager: New business with the following:
- Update sales call database
- General research
- Conduct sales calls with Sales Manager: New business
- Government and other procurement databases.
Qualifications and skills:
- Studying towards a three (3) years tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management
- Computer literacy (MS Office)
- Language proficiency (English spoken & written)
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Systematic
- Good interpersonal/communication skills
- Good time management skills
