In-service Training: Audio Visual (AV) Technician

The CSIR has an In-service Training opportunity in its International Convention Centre. The programme aims to expose students to the work environment and provide workplace experience required to fulfil their qualification. This position is based in Pretoria.

About the unit:

The CSIR ICC is one of the leading convention centres in Africa. It is a 4-star establishment that hosts about 80 000 delegates annually from various leisure events to business meetings.

Key responsibilities:

Under supervision, the Trainee will assist with following:

• Provide technical facilities and services to clients for events hosted at the Centre;
• Maintain standards and procedures in order to ensure that equipment is stored securely and maintained to the highest standard and is easily accessible;
• Maintaining standards and procedures to ensure that venues, projection and storage areas are tidy and presentable;
• Communicate with AV Technicians to ensure that all the necessary work is carried out prior to and during client visit;
• Set up AV equipment in venues as per client requirements and pre-event briefing.

Qualifications, skill and experience:

• Currently enrolled for a National Diploma in sound/electronic engineering, event production, information technology or related fields;
• Customer and Service orientation;
• Communication skills;
• Learning potential.
