Invitation for Prequalification (IFP)
IFP NO.: RD/DD/8/2025
The Government of Lesotho through the Roads Directorate invites contractors from suitably qualified locally registered Category A contractors and international contractors with specific experience in road construction to apply for prequalification for the Upgrading to Bitumen Standard of Sehlabathebe to Thamathu Village Road Project (±8km). This is a B-class rural road passing through several villages in the Qacha’s Nek District.
1. Scope of Works
The project includes:
- Clearing and grubbing
- Installation of stormwater culverts
- Relocation of rural underground and overhead utility services
- Mass earthworks
- Construction of gabions and retaining structures
- Opening of borrow pits and quarry
- Kerbing and channeling
- Manufacturing and paving asphalt surfacing
- Guardrails, road signage, and road marking
The road stretches from Sehlabathebe National Park gate (km 4.57) to Thamathu Village (km 12.07).
2. International Contractors
International companies not categorized by the Roads Directorate must pay a non-refundable registration fee of M20,000.00 if they pass the prequalification stage to be eligible to submit a bid.
3. Prequalification Process
Prequalification will follow procedures outlined in the prequalification document. Documents will be issued in hard copy (soft copy available for document control only) upon payment of a non-refundable fee of M5,000.00.

4. Site Inspection / Pre-Application Meeting

Applicants are advised to use 4×4 vehicles. Attendance is not mandatory and will not result in disqualification. Participation is at the applicant’s own cost.
5. Document Availability
Prequalification documents will be available for purchase starting 25th August 2025.
