Applications are invited from suitably qualified local candidates for the following vacant position tenable at the Southern Division of the High Court in Mohale’s Hoek:
JOB TITLE: ICT Support Officer
GRADE: G
NO. OF POSTS: One (1)
RESPONSIBLE TO: ICT Manager
Job Summary
To contribute towards the availability and maintenance of the LAN/WAN infrastructure, servers, client workstation platforms, and application, database, and network services infrastructure for ACMTS.
Main Duties
1. Network Administration
1.1 Administers and supports LAN, WAN, MAN, VPNs, intranets, and extranets.
1.2 Installs and manages servers; troubleshoots server issues.
1.3 Creates and manages network groups and uplinks workgroups.
1.4 Configures and manages DHCP, DNS, and network connectivity.
1.5 Manages access to shared folders and devices (e.g., printers, faxes).
1.6 Configures and maintains web and FTP services.
1.7 Manages remote access (e.g., dial-up, VPN); monitors activity.
1.8 Monitors user activity and performs software upgrades/troubleshooting.
2. Desktop Support
2.1 Monitors desktop software performance.
2.2 Performs software upgrades and troubleshooting.
2.3 Manages file systems, including access, offline files, and encryption.
2.4 Administers hardware devices and drivers.
2.5 Configures LAN, email services, and browser security settings; monitors firewall activity.
3. Help Desk
3.1 Receives and logs support calls.
3.2 Performs initial problem diagnosis.
3.3 Identifies and isolates problem causes (e.g., ACMTS application, OS, database, network).

1.3 Proper configuration and connectivity.
1.4 Optimized disk storage and performance.
1.5 Managed access to server resources and services.
1.6 Reliable server operation with backup and recovery.
2. Desktop Support
2.1 Successful software installations and upgrades.
2.2 Effective resolution of software/hardware issues.
2.3 Monitored and optimized system performance.
2.4 Proper desktop environment management.
2.5 Correct implementation of network services.
3. Help Desk
3.1 Prompt and efficient support call handling.
3.2 Accurate diagnosis and problem identification.
3.3 Proper referral of issues.
3.4 Creation of technical guidance articles.
Knowledge and Skills
Education and Training:
- Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the ICT field
Other Relevant Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of network and desktop operating systems
- Ability to prioritize and work independently
- Teamwork and flexibility
Technical Skills:
- Network Support: Analytical and diagnostic skills, technical management, server OS expertise (e.g., Windows Server 2003/2008)
- Desktop Support: Problem elicitation and diagnostic skills
Responsibilities
For Work of Others:
- This is an entry-level position with no supervisory responsibilities.
Complexity
Problem Solving:
- Expected to resolve work-related technical issues that may impact the Judiciary’s operations.
- Requires strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Supervision Received:
- Must be able to prioritize tasks and work independently when necessary.
