The SACU Secretariat invites suitably qualified and experienced citizens of SACU Member States to apply for the following position:
Main Purpose of the Job
To ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of SACU’s data and services by implementing cybersecurity measures, enforcing compliance requirements, and maintaining robust business continuity strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage SACU’s network infrastructure for optimal performance and security
- Administer and optimize network and cybersecurity systems to align with organizational needs
- Conduct periodic reviews of active users and audit logs to identify anomalies and ensure compliance
- Apply and maintain access controls, authentication mechanisms, and identity management systems across on-premises and cloud environments
- Implement cybersecurity controls in Microsoft 365 (Defender for Office 365, MFA, Conditional Access, etc.)
- Enforce IT security policies, standards, and procedures in line with best practices and compliance requirements
- Maintain documentation for network configurations, security policies, and operational procedures
- Ensure effective backup, disaster recovery, and incident response planning
- Conduct internal risk assessments, security audits, and vulnerability management
- Coordinate independent IT security assessments and penetration tests
- Address findings from audits and penetration tests, supporting SACU’s risk and compliance obligations
Educational Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Certification in Fortinet NSE 4 is required
- Preference given to candidates with additional certifications such as:
- Fortinet NSE 5–7
- Microsoft 365 Security
- Cisco Networking Certifications
Relevant Experience and Competencies
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in network and security administration across mixed hardware and cloud environments
- Strong knowledge of enterprise networking (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, QoS)
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, and HP networking equipment
- Proficiency in securing and managing Microsoft 365 cloud services and Azure AD
- Experience with FortiNet, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and SIEM/log management tools
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and frameworks (ISO/IEC 27001, NIST) and regional data protection laws
- Ability to manage complex incidents and perform root cause analysis
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving
