JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Rector, the Director ICT is responsible for the overall operation of the Lerotholi Polytechnic (LP) ICT department.  Directing the day-to-day activities of the department.  Overseeing all ICT operations, systems and policies to ensure that they adhere to the strategic goals of the institution.  Develop, implement, review, evaluate and report on the LP’s ICT strategic, business and operating plans and associated projects, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of the institution.  Drive the implementation of efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and systems, ensure the use of adopted technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY DUTIES

  1. Lead the delivery of high quality ICT services across LP to enable key operational requirements;
  2. Develop, implement, review, evaluate and report on LP’s ICT strategic and operational plans aligned with the strategic direction of the Polytechnic;
  3. Implement organisational enterprise and information architecture principles, methods and models;
  4. Work in collaboration with different business units across LP and external stakeholders to identify and define specific ICT business requirements to develop and adopt tailored ICT solutions;
  1. Drive, influence and manage change in the implementation and delivery of new systems, technologies and services to optimise business performance;
  2. Drive ongoing analysis and review of ICT service delivery to identify opportunities to improve and enhance service;
  3. Control the ICT budget;
  4. Manage relationships with vendors (draft SLAs) and ensure adoption of beneficial contracts that are commercially viable; and
  5. Liaise with the Rector’s Steering Committee on IT (RESCIT) on ICT development and support and represent ICT in the Committee.

JOB SPECIFICATION

MSc. in Computer Science or MSc. in Computer Engineering or MSc. in Information Technology or any equivalent related area of expertise; Five (5) years’ management experience in implementing enterprise solutions, project management, and supervising people and processes.

                                          OR

BSc. Computer Science or BSc. in Computer Engineering or BSc. in Information Technology or any equivalent related area of expertise; Ten (10) years’ management experience in implementing enterprise solutions, project management, and supervising people and processes.

  • Ability to clearly communicate ICT jargon to the better comprehension of staff;
  • Strong written English language skills; and
  • Excellent attention to detail.
