Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States is currently recruiting for ICM MEAL Coordinator in Maseru, Lesotho. 

Job Summary:  

The MEAL Coordinator – ICM will build project capacity in monitoring and evaluation by guiding, supporting, designing and implementation of “Community Engagement for Integrated Catchment Management in Lesotho” MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning) systems and procedures that are appropriate, effective and cost-efficient.  You must effectively manage relationships with CRS and ICM partner staff and support them in creating and implementing MEAL systems that will lead to improved program quality. You will analyze data and provide technical input on MEAL during project reviews and project designs.

Roles and Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide support for quality MEAL system design, including tools and methods, appropriate to scope, context, and technical requirements of a project
  • Implement and Monitors project compliance with MEL Procedures and systems in line with Donor guidance
  • Manages activities according to MEL Detailed Implementation Plan

Basic Qualifications 

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required. The degree should be in Demography, Epidemiology, Sociology, Biostatistics, Statistics or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in implementing MEAL activities in Lesotho
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education
  • Sound understanding of relevant indicators, data collection methodology, data quality issues; ability to develop indicators and data collection tools and assess data quality
  • Strong ability to present data clearly for M&E and non-M&E audiences
  • Experience in strengthening the demand for data and facilitating the use of information in the decision-making process at different levels to improve program quality
  • Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, knowledge-sharing networks, data management applications, statistical packages and relevant computer software skills, including statistical analysis programs.

Required Languages – Proficiency in Sesotho and English

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% including to remote/mountainous areas 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement
  • Excellent relationship management skills with ability to influence and get buy-in from people not under direct supervision and to work with local partners and community members in diverse geographical settings.
