The global humanitarian system is facing an unprecedented strain. As donor countries navigate shifting domestic priorities and rising defense expenditures, traditional funding models are shrinking. Compounding these financial constraints are rapid, overlapping global challenges: from extreme weather events and rising sea levels in the Indo-Pacific to cyber threats, large-scale displacement, and eroding public trust in multilateral systems.
How can the humanitarian community build resilience when resources are dwindling and the frequency of crises is accelerating?
The answer lies in adopting anticipatory, adaptive, and deeply collaborative approaches. To navigate this fragile landscape, the Institute for Defence and Strategic Studies (IDSS) at RSIS and the Changi Regional HADR Coordination Centre (RHCC) are proud to host the 5th Humanitarian Futures Forum on 27 October 2026.
This year’s forum serves as a vital platform for collective reflection and strategic alignment, gathering local and international leaders from government, military, academia, civil society, philanthropy, and the private sector to share operational insights and explore future partnerships.
The Forum will feature an opening Keynote Address by The Honourable Janet Nosworthy, President of the Administrative Tribunal of the Organization of American States (TRIBAD), bringing her extensive expertise in landmark international legal frameworks.
