POSITION: Human Resources Officer
REPORTS TO: Corporate Chief Executive Officer
LOCATION: Kao Mine


JOB PURPOSE: To provide a range of HR services, HR advice, support and influence to other Departments. To empower managerial leaders to become effective People Managers by building capacity, providing tactical and operational support across the full range of HR activities and to ensure adherence to SMD standards, policies and procedures.


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
− Tertiary level qualification in a relevant field; Human Resources/ Psychology/ Industrial Psychology or equivalent.
− Driver’s License (Code B)
− Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources Operations field
− Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Supervisory role

− Knowledge of relevant legislation

− Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
− Employee engagement, communication, and interpersonal skills


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
− Ensure all aspects of HR support are timeously delivered in line with company guidelines and HR practices.
− Partner with managerial leaders to build capacity with respect to the people strategy and implement the SMD HR practices to ensure that people and talent are considered as critical success factors to delivering on business objectives.
− Understand customer expectations and provide HR advice and support to managerial leaders through the provision of services across the full range of HR activities, including learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits queries, expatriate support, employee consultation and employee relations.
− Ensure that SMD HR policies and procedures are developed, well documented and communicated with employees
− Ensure all aspects of HR support are delivered in a timely manner, and in line with company guidelines and HR practices.
− Develop and deliver timely, reliable reports, to enable line manager to evaluate performance with regard to HR issues
− Prepare reports and graphs to ensure that people related decisions are informed by relevant data and trends and that HR delivery is appropriately measured and monitored.
− Initiate or participate in internal audits of contractor operations to establish compliance and performance relating to set Kao Mine HR standards and practices
− Review contractors’ HR files and ensure that data is up to date
− Responsible for the compilation and submission of the annual workforce plans with managerial leaders and ensure that Drivatic information management is appropriately maintained
− Provide a recruitment service to engage and source appropriate staff for the operations
− Develop and conduct assessment centres to ensure fair, relevant and appropriate staff selection processes
− Assess staff annually for developmental purposes and ensure adequate feedback is provided to the workforce
− Participate in key reviews, providing assurance that HR related risks have been fully identified, qualified and quantified and that appropriate risk mitigation strategies and plans are in place
− Drive, in partnership with line managers, the successful implementation of the succession and localization plan
