Introduction

This is a leadership role which will be based at Letseng Diamonds Site in Lesotho reporting to the Operations Manager on site and functionally to the Senior Manager Human Resources – Operations & Advisory.

Description

The Human Resources Manager will support Minopex Lesotho Operations. The purpose of this role is to lead, drive and embed the group People & Culture strategy, interventions and practices in collaboration with the site leadership team to ensure the attraction, development and retention of employees according to operational needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Human Resource Strategy & Management

  • Collaborating with the HR Team at Head Office and site management teams in implementing the People & Culture strategy in support of the Minopex business strategy.
  • Ensuring that the Management teams that he/she supports understand the strategic direction of the People & Culture strategy within Minopex.
  • Driving the best HR policies, processes and operational excellence across the areas of responsibility.
  • Coordinate and guide the facilitation of proactive workforce planning, headcount budgeting and forecasting.
  • Building leadership, supervisory and internal talent pipelines.

Performance and Talent Management

  • Delivery of the Minopex Performance & Talent Management strategy, tools and processes that enable employees to deliver peak performance against business & leadership goals.
  • Drive the necessary processes, systems and culture to ensure that there is an environment where employees can build the appropriate skills to improve their performance and where the Company has the necessary talent now and, in the future, to meets its strategic goals.
  • Lead and manage the delivery of performance management through critical talent assessment and performance milestones including goal setting, mid-year, year-end, succession models, high-potential talent identification, critical roles assessment.

Training & Development

  • Oversee the short term, site based, operational and compliance training & development processes.

Remuneration & Reward

  • Implementation and adherence to the Minopex Remuneration/Reward philosophy and practices.
  • Ensuring that the long-term reward incentive and short-term incentive policies and practices are implemented to ensure we retain high potential and critical talent within Minopex.

Employee Engagement

  • Responsible for surveying, analysing, and providing content for the development and execution of employee engagement and communications strategies that will enhance the overall employee experience, positioning the Company as a great place to work and to build a career.
  • Development & implementation of employee engagement improvement initiatives to drive the Minopex way culture.

Employee Wellness

  • Responsible for implementing and administering health and wellness plans in the areas of responsibility that are aligned to the Minopex Employee Wellness Framework and utilising a variety of resources and tools to plan, promote, and execute employee health and wellness activities.

HR Analytics

  • Collect and analyse HR data for monthly reporting to the site leadership team and identify and recommend opportunities for improvement and or risk mitigation.
  • Interpret employee data to identify significant differences, relationships, and trends in data.
  • Collaborate with the HR Communities of Practice to improve delivery and efficiencies.

Legal

  • Manage Legal HR / IR matters affecting the business.
  • Consults with external Legal Counsel as required in preparation for litigation.
  • Oversight of all litigation matters.

Industrial and Employee Relations

  • Drive and execute the Industrial Relations strategy for the business and facilitate the enhancement of Employer, Employee and Union relationships
  • Ensure that the IR Policy, Collective Labour Agreements and Industrial Relations structures comply with the business strategy and relevant legislation.
  • Advise and inform Management on the wage negotiation process / substantive employee issues that could impact on operational continuity.
  • Provide guidance and support to Management on Disciplinary and Grievance processes.

Compliance

  • Ensure alignment and compliance with all legislative requirements.
  • Ensure compliance to Group Code of Conduct, Ethics, Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption policies, etc.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build relationships across the business value chain by sharing business information and knowledge and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external role players (client, government, business etc.) to influence decision making or interpretation in favour of the Minopex Group.

Financial

  • Analyse the HR function’s needs to develop a financial budget to ensure sufficient financial resources.
  • Manage and control the allocation of funds to ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
  • Control expenditure according to budget to ensure efficient forecasting and cash flow management.

Qualification Requirements: 

  • A tertiary level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. HR/ Business/ Management)
  • A Postgraduate qualification is essential

Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ HR operations experience, preferably in the mining industry
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience at senior management level
  • Leading, managing, influencing Human Resources and Leadership teams
  • Specialist Industrial and Employee Relations skills
  • Skilled in the development, implementation and maintenance of HR related Policies, Procedures, Systems and Standards
  • Experience in Legal and Compliance matters in the mining industry
  • Employee engagement, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Presentation and report writing skills
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving knowledge of mining challenges
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid driver’s licence code B, EB or C1
  • Red Ticket / Medical Certificate of fitness
