JOB PURPOSE


MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and ensure maintenance of best practices in recruitment to ensure the selection and retention of quality staff as well as placement of new employees
  • Ensure that talent plans are drawn and are in line with the Employment Equity Plan.
  • Participate in the BEE committee and execute BEE plans with regards to employment equity as well as integrating the gap between EE and recruitment.
  • Establishing training needs and plans for all levels within the Plant.
  • Conduct training through various methods: On-the-Job, Classroom type, etc.
  • Ensure compliance to the requirements of the Skills development Legislation, by establishing and managing the appropriate training and development structures within Supply Chain.
  • Provide specialist input on Industrial Relations matters, including but not limited to, creating and maintaining good industrial relations, dealing with Unions, updating management on changes in legislation, etc.
  • Guide management and employees on disciplinary processes
  • Advise and counsel employees on the Company’s Human Resources policies
  • Conduct and ensure that manpower planning (career planning) and supply is done as per relevant guidelines such as Labour Relations Act and the Company’s Employment Equity policy
  • Ensure that Performance Management and Assessment is applied as per given guidelines in the operation.
  • Manage the Total Rewards program for the plant in alignment with global policies and requirements
  • Lead the site engagement and employer branding efforts
  • Work with the HR Manager in ensuring that Supply Chain is line with the rest of the company in employee benefits and other relevant policies and practices
  • Facilitate Organisational Development in line with Supply Chain strategy and company objectives.
  • Drive Change management and team effectiveness efforts


MAIN OUTPUT

  • Employees are developed to their full potential and are productive
  • Legislative requirements pertaining to training and development are complied to; employees are given development opportunities
  • Training needs are done and kept updated as training continues.
  • Training courses are sourced and conducted professionally and trainees apply information acquired in their workplaces
  • Good Industrial Relations practices are applied in the plant
  • Disciplinary Processes are perceived as fair and achieve their objectives
  • Managers and employees are aware of the company’s policies and use them accordingly
  • Procedures pertaining to benefits are applied ; should there be a need for deviation necessary authorisations are obtained
  • High quality personnel are recruited into the organisation and procedures applied comply to the relevant legislation and policies
  • Performance Management System is achieving its aim, i.e. to stimulate employees to achieve high levels of performance.
  • The proper management of the change process, reduce resistance to change so that employees embrace change


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS


EDUCATION

Standard 10/ Grade 12

Degree in HR, Industrial Psychology and/or Technical field

Post graduate qualification in HR field will be beneficial


EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years as a Human Resources practitioner in a Manufacturing Environment will be preferred
  • Proven experience in leading Technical Training and Development, especially application of Skills Development initiatives


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Effective Communicator at all levels (including listening and presentation skills)
  • Good negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to organise and control several projects at one time
  • Analytical skills (to identify problems , gather information, generate options, consider benefits vs costs of initiatives)
  • Managing with respect/ team player
  • Very good Knowledge of HR legislation including but not limited to LRA, EE Act , Skills Development Act, Basic Conditions of Employment, OHS Act
  • The ability to drive change at all levels of the organisation and execute plans
