Job Summary:
Under direct guidance, support, and supervision of the Clinic Manager, the HTS Counsellor will be responsible for providing quality HIV Testing and Adherence services for adults and young people, and ensure treatment continuity to all newly diagnosed clients on ART. He/She will provide enhanced adherence counselling for clients with high viral loads and ensure that facility registers are well updated and correctly filled.
Main Duties
- Provides high quality counselling at all times in LPPA static Clinics and outreaches.
- Provides Enhanced Adherence Counselling to clients with high viral loads.
- Performs Index Testing and Partner Notification, and ensures that all partners elicited are tested.
- Conducts pre and post HIV test counselling sessions as per counselling protocols.
- Ensures proper recording and confidential keeping of all client results and registers.
- Assists clients in the creation of appropriate risk reduction strategies.
- Prepares and submit monthly reports timely to the Supervisor.
8. Carries out any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
- Works independently with little direct supervision.
- Accepts responsibility and is self-motivated.
- Understands Sexual and Reproductive Health issues.
- Ability to empathize with people in distress.
- Excellent organizational skills
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Counseling, Psychology or any other related field with at least one year experience in HTS
OR
Diploma in Counselling, Psychology or any other related field with at least three years’ experience in HTS.
- Certificate in HTS
