With an office based in Rosebank, Johannesburg, we are keen to bolster our HR team with a HR/ Talent Acquisition Specialist to support both the wider Johannesburg team and the EMEA HR team.

The role is a 1-year fixed term position within the EMEA HR team, sitting within the Johannesburg client services team, to be the “eyes and ears on the ground” supporting the HR Business Partner, EMEA and International HR Director, who are based in London, UK. This a great opportunity for someone who is currently in their first HR role to expand their knowledge, skills and experience in HR and Talent Acquisition to join a super-collaborative and committed team.

Key strengths for this role include proven knowledge and application of South African Labor Law, HR processes and procedures, insight into the South African labor market and recruitment best practices. Focus, attention to detail, adaptability, a sense of honour and a can-do attitude are a must. Experience within a PR/ Comms/ Media/ Creative environment would be ideal, but not a prerequisite.
Responsibilities:

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES


HR:

  • Supports the HR Business Partner is establishing and maintaining robust HR processes through, maintaining records and information, checking ID and eligibility to work in SA and reference checking, and liaising with employees for all benefit paperwork and support the HR Business Partner in payroll processing.
  • Coordinate logistics for new hire orientations and employee training sessions
  • Assist the HR Business Partner with general HR queries and employee relations issues, sit in on meetings and take notes and flagging potential issues as a priority.
  • Support with research and data analysis and keep up to date with any employment legislation.
  • Work with the HR Business Partner and HR Director to collate data in order to ensure compliance with B-BBEE obligations including skills development and employment equity.
  • Supporting new hire integration plans, ensuring an engaging onboarding experience
  • Ensuring line managers conduct regular review meeting for probationers and regular staff
  • Leave administration (e.g. annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave) including for new hires, leavers
  • Working with the HR Business Partner to ensure accuracy of information in HR systems including Workday.
  • Ad hoc HR project work as and when required relevant to skill level


RECRUITMENT:

  • Full end-to-end management of the recruitment lifecycle for interns and junior level roles, from screening CV’s right through to offer stage – across permanent, fixed term, intern and freelancer roles.
  • Provide support to the HR Director and local leadership team for senior level recruitment.
  • Work with hiring managers to understand role requirements and ensuring job descriptions are accurate and up to date
  • Posting job adverts and being point of contact for recruitment agencies where applicable
  • Responsible for the pre-screening process including CV Screening, phone screens, assessment facilitation and interview scheduling, ensuring a positive candidate experience
  • Providing follow-up correspondence to candidates on recruiting status via phone and email.
  • Creation and maintenance of applicant tracking systems
  • Tracking recruiting activities and providing candidate status reports/ updates to Leadership team and HR Business Partner.
  • Identifying opportunities for improving candidate experience and scheduling efficiency and raising these ideas with the HR Business partner
  • Creation of candidate and competitor market maps across the PR/Communications industry
  • Building talent pipelines, speaking to candidates active in the PR/Comms space

Qualifications:


REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric with a minimum of 2 years HR/ Recruitment experience. Relevant degree/diploma in HR, business management or similar would be beneficial
  • Workable knowledge of HR processes and employment legislation
  • Excellent English written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interface with all levels of the organization and with external candidates.
  • Team player with a solid work ethic
  • Strong customer service orientation with a demonstrated desire to exceed expectations.
  • Problem solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues independently and drive them to closure with minimal supervision.
  • Great organizational and administrative skills and high attention to detail, ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility and the ability to change direction quickly and be comfortable in a fast-paced and potentially ambiguous environment.
  • A solid sense of accountability, deliver on targets and ability to handle confidential information and escalate issues when appropriate.
  • Understands the importance of confidentiality within the function and proven ability of handling large volumes of sensitive data with confidence.
