CHoiCe Trust was established in 1997 in the rural areas around Tzaneen town, Limpopo Province. A group of committed nurses and health practitioners formed under the leadership of Fiona Macdonald – our founding trustee – to provide essential health trainings and interventions to farm workers. It soon became apparent that working with farm workers was not enough, as the behaviour of the farm workers was largely influenced by their families and neighbours from the rural villages. CHoiCe soon made the decision to move into the villages and provide education and skills around home-based care amongst the vulnerable community members.

CHoiCe Trust is looking for an HR Practitioner to provide support to the Human Resources function at CHoiCe Trust, ensuring the development and implementation of the Human Resource policy, practice and activities, and ensuring that they are carried out within the organisation guidelines. The individual will manage the Human Resource department and support the work of the Human Resources Officer, contributing to the delivery of health services in the poverty-stricken rural areas of Limpopo province.

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Human Resources function at CHoiCe Trust, ensuring the development and implementation of the Human Resource policy, practice and activities, and ensuring that they are carried out within the organisation guidelines. The individual will manage the Human Resource department and support the work of the Human Resources Officer.

Note: this position will be a part-time position.

Role Requirements:

The appointed individual is expected to have the following experience and qualifications:

Advanced operational skills or is a certified specialist;
A tertiary degree or with a Qualification at NQF Level 5/6;
5-8 years’ generic experience applicable to the specific discipline (Human Resource management or directorship);
Fluency in English (written and verbal);
Excellent computer skills (including all Microsoft Office programmes);
A driver’s license and own vehicle;
Experience in the Non-Profit Sector would be an advantage.

Responsibilities include:

Design / review and implement all relevant Human Resource policies
Design / review and implement overall recruiting and staffing strategy
Design / review and implement overall performance management system
Ensure compliance with required legislation including employment equity
Support employee wellness and development needs
Support and coordinate the disciplinary procedures within the organisation
Ensure maintenance of personnel systems
General HR Support
