The Haven Night Shelter Organisation is a non –governmental organisation working to help the homeless back to a home, family and community, The Haven Night Shelter Organisation’s method is to offer Social Work services, rehabilitation opportunities, family reunification services, physical care and support available to adult people living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.

The Haven Night Shelte require a junior HR Officer that will be based at the Head Office, 2 Napier Street, Cape Town.

Salary Package: R12 000

Job Purpose
The incumbent will be responsible for all HR administration functions in support of Staff and Volunteer Care. This role is an important support function to the HR Manager.
Minimum Requirements:

National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Business, or Organization Development.
At least one year in Human Resources- generalist experience, preferably in the NGO Sector.
Knowledgeable about employee relations to ensure compliance with ethical and regulatory standards.
Advanced Computer skills- MS Outlook, MS Word and Excel.
Excellent Communication (Verbal and written) skills.
Excellent HR administration and documentation.
Ability to plan and organise HR events.
Presentation and interviewing skills.
Ability to analyse and interpret HR policies.
Shown ability to manage work and self proactively.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

Involved in human resource services and training management.
Assist to manage the volunteer care program by being the liaison between the managers and potential volunteers.
Co-ordinates and prepares all logistics for staff and volunteer events such as employee orientation, wellness days and training related to staff.
Execute the administrative function with regards to service benefits.
Capture and maintain staff and volunteers databases.
Ensure that HR records are up to date at all times.
Execute the administrative function with regards to recruitment and selection.
Assists with all HR related projects including in the area of performance management.
Assist with disciplinary and grievance matters including, writing up of minutes.
Stay abreast of regulatory developments and codes of good practice, including but not limited to the Labour Relations Act (LRA), Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Protection of Personal Information (POPI) Act.
