Applications are now open for the 2027/2028 Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. Established in 2009 by Hong Kong’s Research Grants Council (RGC), the fellowship seeks to attract outstanding students from around the world to pursue PhD programmes at Hong Kong’s universities. hong-kong

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme provides opportunities across a broad range of disciplines, including:

Eligibility Requirements
Applications are welcomed from candidates seeking admission as new full-time PhD students at any of the eight UGC-funded universities in Hong Kong.
Applicants are eligible irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience or ethnic background. hong-kong
Fellowship Benefits

Selection Criteria

How to Apply
Eligible candidates must first submit an initial application to the Research Grants Council through the HKPFS online application system. This generates an HKPFS Reference Number. hong-kong
Applicants must then submit full applications to their selected PhD programmes at the participating universities, quoting their assigned HKPFS Reference Number. Importantly, individual universities have their own application deadlines, which may closely follow the HKPFS initial application deadline. hong-kong
