Overview:

Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho. The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Pediatric AIDS Initiative and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centered HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

BCMCFL is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill in the following positions on a Four (4) Months  Fixed-Term,  renewable Contract.

Position Descriptions

HIV Clinical Nurses

Reports to: Lead Nurse and Health Facility

Department: ETHICS Project

Duty Station(s):

Mokhotlong   (2)

Botha-Bothe (2)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to:
    1. HIV-positive patients in the ART corner, and/or
    2. ANC, PNC, MNCH, and U5 clients
    3. TB clients co-infected with HIV
  • Ensure direct provision of TB and HIV prevention and treatment services
  • Ensure provision of cervical cancer screening and treatment services
  • Work with staff in PMTCT, TB and ART clinics to strengthen tracking of clients missing their follow up appointments/ provide referrals and facility referral feedback
  • Ensure provision of care and appropriate referral of COVID-19 suspects
  • Work with health facility staff to ensure that all related medications, supplies, and commodities are always in stock at their facility
  • Ensure strict infection control measures are carried out, including appropriate medical waste management
  • Review relevant results and ensure appropriate filling of clients results and files
  • Submit monthly summary reports regarding clinical and programmatic activities
  • Perform any other project duties as may be assigned by the Administration

Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies

  • Degree in General Nursing and;
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
  • Current registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse Midwife is the prerequisite
