SUN JV (a joint venture among SINOHYDRO BUREAU 8 CO., LTD, SINOHYDRO BUREAU 14 CO., LTD., UNIK CIVIL ENGINEERING PTY LTD., and NTHANE BROTHERS PTY LTD.) is the Contractor for the Construction of Polihali Dam and Appurtenant Works under the Lesotho Highlands Water Project – Phase II.
The scope of work includes construction of a concrete-faced rockfill dam at Polihali, approximately 1 km downstream of the confluence of the Khubelu and Senqu (Orange) Rivers, a saddle dam, and a gravity tunnel connecting Polihali Reservoir to Katse Reservoir.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following positions:
Health & Safety Officers (x6)
Position Overview
Supports enforcement of occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout construction works.
Qualifications
• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
• Professional registration with SACPCMP or equivalent
• Additional Certifications:
– First Aid Level 2
– Fall Arrest
– HIRA
– NEBOSH qualification
– Accident/Incident Investigation (e.g., IRCA RCAT)
– Supervisor Training Course
Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience on large-scale construction projects (preferably dam/infrastructure works)
Knowledge & Skills
• Understanding of incident causation and prevention
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards:
– Lesotho Labour Code
– OHS Act 85 of 1998 & 2014 Regulations
– SANS 10085
• Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills
• Ability to promote safety culture and enforce compliance
Core Competencies
• Leadership of site safety personnel
• Excellent documentation and reporting
