About the Role
The Health & Safety Officer will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and monitoring our safety programs.
We are looking for an initiative-taking individual with a strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to promote a safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide safety training and education to employees at all levels.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, training, and incidents.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses.
- Consult with regulatory agencies and external safety professionals.
- Manage and maintain safety equipment and supplies.
- Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
- Stay up to date on the latest safety regulations and best practices.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and analyze data.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong diligence and organizational skills.
- Industry-specific knowledge, such as machinery operation and chemical handling procedures, is an added advantage.
