PURPOSE OF POSITION

To lead and drive a culture of Health & Safety across Gilbarco Veeder Root (GVR) MEA. Responsible for the management, development, implementation and maintenance of GVR’s HSE systems & policies. To ensure GVR MEA is 100% compliant with legislations in the areas we are operating in, across all business units. The HSE Manager will also be responsible for driving a safe culture and expected to spend a significant amount of their time researching trends and pro-actively designing and implementing risk-mitigation measures, particularly in times like these of Covid-19 pandemic. A member of the MEA Leadership (EXCO) team and responsible to facilitate the achievement of the company’s strategic goals and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and maintain safety policies and procedures.
  • Plan and participate in the annual audit plan and conducting Management System audits annually.
  • Review the monthly HSE statistics before they are communicated.
  • Annual alignment of GVR global Targets with GVR MEA HSE Targets.
  • Ensure all legal appointments are made and training is scheduled.
  • Provide a service to all parts of the business who require HSE support.
  • Manage the Incident Investigations process to ensure timely report out.
  • Ensure that HSE issues are considered in all business strategies.
  • Coordinate the GVR HSE Network.
  • Develop and maintain a HSE Legal Register for the company and communicate any major changes.
  • Support or attend industry and client meetings as required.
  • Active use of VBS to carry out continuous improvement priorities
  • HR line management (People skills and development)
  • Implementation and sustainment of a QMS
  • Compliance with annual QMS audits
  • Sustain and manage the integrity of the QMS

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education / achievements

  • University degree or equivalent
  • Post graduate diploma, e.g., MBA or equivalent Masters in a related discipline preferable

Experience / Knowledge

  • 8 – 10 years work experience in Safety, Health & Environment and Quality Management
  • 3 – 5 years management experience
  • In depth knowledge of the OHS ACT and Safety Act
  • In depth knowledge of MHS ACT
  • Knowledge of regulations in the forecourt, mining and fleet environment
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in risk assessments and audits processes
  • Quality Management Systems
