HEALTH EDUCATION OFFICER – HR/HEO/14A/05/21
LHDA invites applications for the position of a Health Education Officer on a fixed five (5) year contract, with a
possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be contracted to LHDA as a Consultant and will report to the Public Health Specialist.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Leading support in all aspects of health promotion and education in different programmes under the PHAP
• Assisting the Public Health Nurse in health education aspects of the outreach programme.
• Participate in training programmes with regards to the preventive aspects of care
• Preparation and obtaining of health education materials such as posters, leaflets, multimedia materials or articles for local newspapers, newsletters and mass media programmes
• Develop in conjunction with data management officer technological tools for health education e.g. SMS messaging, hole in the wall, a website for dissemination of health information and the like
• Support and facilitate Training of health personnel and other stakeholders in areas related to health education and promotion at all levels of care
• Ensuring health education materials are updated and relevant as per the MOH priorities
• Contribute to the relevant sections of the periodical reports.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have the following attributes:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, or related field with at least 5 years of experience working in the health-related field.
• Familiarity with Ministry of health guidelines, policies and programmes.
• Fluency in English and Sesotho
• Knowledge of media use in health education along with good computer skills, (especially MS Excel, Word, Power point, etc.)
• Ability to work with national and international personnel with good interpersonal and communication skills
• Have excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to focus on the needs and issues of individuals, people, their communities and cultures
• Always ready and up for any challenges while working in the mountainous district
