OVERVIEW
Econo Foods Lesotho is a local company, with branches in Maseru and Maputsoe, operating in the retail services sector. In particular the company specializes in sales of red meat, fi sh, chicken, other meat lines and spices and herbs. Econo foods sells directly to the general public and indirectly through the wholesale deliveries.
The incumbent shall report directly to the General Manager.
JOB PURPOSE:
To assist Management in the development, implementation and maintenance of the health and safety management systems, policies, standards, legislative requirements and best practices.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Monitor the legal compliance of Econo Foods to relevant Safety and Health legislation, Health and Safety management plan, Codes of Practices, Safe Working Procedures and recommends courses of action where
deviations are identified
• Establishes and define safety aspects of work procedures and practices to establish acceptable standards of
safety outputs and performance
• Participate in internal and external Health and Safety audits
• Ensure Health and Safety compliance to Legal and other requirements.
• Establishes and define safety aspects of work procedures and practices to establish acceptable standards of
safety outputs and performance
• Compile required reports and submit timeously
• Set Health and Safety objectives and targets
• Distribution and Management of Staff PPE

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• A degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Sciences.
• The candidate must have 3-5 years’ experience in retail environment
• Registered with Department of Labour as a Safety Officer.
• Solid knowledge and application of Retail principles and legislation relating to Safety Health and Environment.
