EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & RELATED EXPERIENCE
• Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Degree in either Geography, Environmental, Safety and Health disciplines is an added advantage
• Driver’s License (Code B)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Trackless Mining Environment or 4 years of relevant experience in Safety and Health in a medium to large enterprise
• Registered with Department of Labour as a Safety Officer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and ensures Safety & Health Compliance to national legislation and or regulation, international standards and best practices with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of Management, workforce staff, clients and visitors to the mine.
• Develop, implement and monitor compliance to Safety & Health Policies, processes and Codes of Practice to establish acceptable standards of safety outputs and performance
• Set health and safety objectives and targets
• Investigate and report on all personal injury accidents occurring to staff and/or visitors to the appropriate senior official, and to assist in the investigation of all accidents/incidents that result in substantial damage to Company vehicles and other fixed and moveable property.
• Reviews existing Safety & Health policies, procedures and Codes of Practice
• Conducts and reviews risk assessments throughout the departments
• Conducts and Participates in internal and external Safety & Health audits
• Increase health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization
• Compiles and implements safety and health management programme
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Risk Assessment and Incident Management
• Knowledge and application of Mining principles and legislation relating to SHE
• Auditing knowledge and experience
• Up to date knowledge of legal compliance, legislation etc.
• Good surface operating mining skills
• Computer literate skills
• Report writing skills
