Responsibilities
- Understanding of the Health and Safety Legislation required for Construction Projects
- Understanding the Lesotho Health and Safety Requirements for Construction and Mining
- Able to fit in a multicultural work environment

- Work long hours and over weekends
- Excellent report compiling skills to consistently produce progress reports and implement improvements required
- Advise Management of issues and convince different departments on collaboration and implementation strategies.
- Attend meetings on all levels and disseminate information for effective implementation
- Communicate effectively with Engineer and own teams to ensure transparent views on safety concerns
Qualifications
- NCRQ-NVQ Level 6(BTech) International Diploma in Health and Safety alternatively NEBOSH International Diploma
- Qualification in NEBOSH (Int, Gen Certificate)
- Registered at SACPCMP as CHSM or Registered with Lesotho Ministry of Labour as HS Practitioner
- Be registered with SAIOSH (South African Institute Occupational Safety and Health) and/or
- IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health UK) as Graduate Member.
- Other Health and Safety Courses:
- Lead Auditor Course in ISO45001:2018
- Qualification in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management processes (HIRA).
- Valid First Aid Certificate level 2.
- Qualification in accident/incident investigation procedures
- Advanced Incident investigation or RCA Methodologies
- Sound knowledge of incident causation phenomena.
- ISO31000 course (Risk Management)
- Other Safety Management courses (SAMTRAC, MSRM, etc)
Possession of the following qualifications shall be an added advantage and is preferred:
- Sound knowledge of SANS 10085.
- Sound Knowledge of the Lesotho legislation in terms of Health and Safety
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Regulations
- including the 2014 Construction Regulations. Valid SAQA Accredited Fall Arrest
- Certificate (where required for inspections to be carried out from a Fall Risk position).
Experience
- More than 10 years’ experience as a safety advisor/officer/manager on construction projects of a similar nature.
- At least 5 years Project / Business Management experience
- International experience in Health and Safety Management
- International Experience in Auditing HS Systems
- Experience in Power Generation or Energy systems
- Experience in Mining Sector
- Experience in Steel Construction
- Deep Excavation and Quarries
- Drilling and Blasting Experience
- Buildings and accommodation Construction
- Food Safety Systems implementation and audits
- Implementing and Maintaining Health and Safety Management Systems for Construction Projects
- Effectively managed and audited Sub-Contractors
- Incident Investigations performed on serious incidents
- Advanced risk assessments experience in accordance with methodologies of ISO 31010
- Experience in Design and Implementation of HS Software systems and Applications
- Experience in Managing Clinics and Medical Services
- Managing Paramedic teams and Emergency response
- Managed Fire and Rescue teams.
- Excellent understanding of security systems and managing security teams.
