LESOTHO SPORT AND RECREATION COMMISSION (LSRC)
The Lesotho Sport and Recreation Commission (LSRC) invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced, and motivated individuals to fill the following six (6) vacant positions.
HEAD SPORT AND RECREATION (1)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Managing a team with a diverse array of talents, the Head Sport and Recreation will facilitate and coordinate the delivery of sport and recreation programmes to a high standard.
The position is responsible for establishing pathways of opportunities for individuals in the sporting fraternity and communities at large to achieve their potential through sport and physical activity, addressing cross-cutting issues such as health improvement, crime prevention, and employment opportunities, and forming partnerships with relevant agencies.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understanding the Operating Environment and Partnerships
- Develop LSRC’s understanding of its operational environment, stakeholder landscape, and partnership ecosystem.
- Manage and strengthen relationships with partners, sponsors, and key stakeholders.
- Support development, implementation, and monitoring of partnership agreements, MOUs, and collaborative frameworks.
Programme and Initiative Planning
- Explore and apply creative methods to increase participation in physical activity and sport.
- Plan sport and recreation initiatives aligned with LSRC’s strategic, social, and business goals.
- Oversee implementation, delivery, and evaluation of intervention programmes and activities.
Activity and Event Coordination
- Coordinate delivery of classes, events, and programmes tailored to community or participant groups.
- Ensure high-quality operational execution across all initiatives.
People Leadership
- Lead recruitment, training, deployment, and management of coaches, activity leaders, and volunteers.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
- Track programme, athlete, and partnership performance using data-driven methods.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Marketing, Communications and Promotion
- Collaborate with communications teams to promote programmes and partnerships.
- Plan and execute marketing campaigns to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
Fundraising and Sponsorship
- Support fundraising initiatives and sponsorship acquisition aligned with LSRC objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s Degree in Sports Management or Sports Science with at least five (5) years in a relevant senior position;
OR - Degree in Sports Management, Sports Science, Administration, Project Management, or equivalent, with at least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role.
