Position Title: Head of Human Resources (HR)

  1. Position Summary

The Head of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing the overall HR strategy, policies, and procedures to support the business objectives of the construction company. The role focuses on talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee relations, performance management, training and development, and compliance with labor laws. The ideal candidate will play a key role in creating a positive and productive workplace culture, ensuring efficient HR operations that support large-scale construction projects.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • HR Strategy & Workforce Planning

Develop and implement the HR strategy aligned with the company’s goals and objectives.
Forecast and manage workforce planning for various construction projects.
Oversee organizational development, ensuring the right talent structure is in place.

  • Talent Acquisition & Retention

Lead recruitment efforts for skilled and unskilled labor, engineers, project managers, and administrative staff.
Implement effective onboarding programs to integrate new hires into the company.
Develop employee retention strategies to reduce turnover in critical roles.

  • Employee Relations & Compliance

Ensure compliance with labor laws, employment regulations, and industry best practices.
Handle grievance resolution, disciplinary actions, and conflict management.
Promote a safe, fair, and inclusive workplace culture.

  • Performance Management & Employee Development

Implement a performance appraisal system that aligns with the company’s objectives.
Identify training needs and oversee professional development programs.
Foster leadership development and succession planning.

  • Compensation, Benefits & HR Administration

Oversee payroll management, ensuring accuracy and compliance with labor laws.
Develop and manage employee benefits programs, including medical, insurance, and pension schemes.
Maintain accurate HR records and employee databases.

F. Health, Safety & Welfare
Work closely with Health & Safety officers to ensure a safe working environment.
Develop and implement employee wellness programs.
Address workplace safety concerns, especially on construction sites.

  • Qualifications & Experience
  • Education & Certification
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM, CIPD, CHRP) is an added advantage.
  • Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large workforces, including skilled and unskilled labor.
  • Experience in recruitment, talent development, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Key Competencies
  • Leadership & Decision-Making: Strong leadership in managing HR teams and influencing management decisions.
  • Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution: Ability to address workforce challenges and resolve disputes effectively.
  • Strong Knowledge of Labor Laws: Understanding of local employment laws and construction industry regulations.
  • Communication & People Management: Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging employees at all levels.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align HR strategies with business objectives.
  • HR Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with HRIS systems, payroll software, and recruitment tools.
  • Work Environment & Special Requirements
  • Ability to work in construction site environments when required.
  • Availability for travel between project sites and company offices.
  • Willingness to handle high-pressure situations in a fast-paced industry.
