Resource Justice Network (RJN) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Head of Africa.
Africa sits at the heart of global debates on resource governance, transition minerals, climate justice and the just energy transition. As the continent’s strategic importance continues to grow, so too does the need for strong civil society leadership capable of ensuring that natural resources contribute to shared prosperity, accountable governance and sustainable development.
The Head of Africa will provide strategic leadership for RJN’s work across the continent, supporting and strengthening a diverse network of national coalitions, partners and advocates working to advance resource justice.
We are seeking a politically astute, relationship-driven leader who can combine movement-building, member engagement, strategic influence, fundraising and high-quality programme delivery to strengthen RJN’s impact across Africa.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have significant experience working across Africa on governance, natural resources, civic space, climate justice, transparency, accountability or related issues;
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of African political, economic and policy dynamics;
- Have experience leading coalitions, networks or member-based organisations;
- Be a confident public representative and relationship-builder able to engage with governments, civil society, donors, media and international institutions;
- Have a track record of fundraising, partnership development and strategic leadership;
- Be committed to inclusive leadership, collaboration and member empowerment;
- Bring energy, creativity and ambition to strengthen RJN’s role and impact across the continent.
Knowledge of RJN, its members, governance structures and strategic priorities would be considered a strong advantage.
We particularly encourage applications from candidates with strong regional networks and demonstrated commitment to advancing African leadership in global debates on resource justice and the just energy transition.
