Head: Economist – BOP

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Lesotho Nationals to fill the following position at the Central Bank of Lesotho. All interested persons are encouraged to submit their applications on or before 31st August 2018 to the address at the bottom of the advertisement.
The incumbent shall report to the Senior Economist – Balance of Payments.
Main Purpose of the Role:
The incumbent is responsible to compile Balance of Payments (BOP) and International Investment Position (IIP) statistics in line with the latest GDDS manuals and guides
Key Performance Areas:
- Studies, adapts and applies international recommendations and guidelines for the compilation of BOP and IIP statistics
- Compiles and prepares macroeconomic data according to BOP and IIP compilation manuals.
- Carries out research on data quality issues on the BOP statistics periodically.
- Implements approaches designed to improve the quality and coverage of the BOP data.
- Reports movements in economic statistics and outlines factors behind such movements.
- Contributes to the drafting and reviewing of periodic economic reports.
- Conducts and shares own research work on topical issues that are of interest to the work of the Bank.
- Represents the Bank in technical/working committees outside the Bank.
